Review of Brides Damask invitation kit # 634680784471 by Gartner studios

These invites are beautiful and you think WOW  I am going to have gorgeous invites for cheap.

Well here is my review...

The invites are gorgeous, make no mistake of that.  The paper quality is of high quality and very nice to handle.

To print the invites you have to go to www.gartnerstudios.com and
type in the last five #s of the invites  (78447) not the 1 .

Their website will open to all the templates you need to download, you will need word or a PDF program to download these.  I used Word 2003 and it worked perfectly.

All invite pieces printed perfectly in my cannon ink jet printer with no issues.  I used blank paper to practice on first instead of waiting invites.  They do give you one to practice on but if you don't use it to practice on that is one extra invite you can use for your guests.

There are a few things I don't like about these invites however.

  1. Is that they are NOT by Brides.  They are actually from Gartner Studios. Brides is just sponsoring them by using their name etc.
  2.  None of the stickers for the closure of the envelopes work. You will have to glue them to your invites.
  3. The address labels are NOT stickers, you will have to glue these to the outside of the envelopes as well.  You must use a good glue because of the texture of the paper.
  4. When they are in the mail they get destroyed before they arrive to their destination.  They get caught in everything.  I would suggest to glue the sides of the envelope down, however it will make it impossible to open the invite without destroying it anyway.
  5. They cost $25.00 at Jo-Ann Fabrics but you can use a coupon if you have one.  However, don't forget you will need ink for your printer.  Depending on your ink price you may have been better off going to a professional printer for less.
If you are handing the invites to folks they are amazing and look fabulous.

I give these a 3 out of 5 stars due to the fact that you have to glue things you should not have to and they get destroyed in the mail as well as the cost to print.

Quick Make-Up for the Day!

Hello everyone!
These are quick tricks for putting make up on quickly and easily everyday!

You don't have to put on a full face everyday, all you need is a colored lip balm, a bit of mascara, and a pinch of blush, And Viola you are amazing!

If you like to can do a quick dusting of powder on your face.

To make our quick Lip Balm grab a container of Petroleum Gelly and your favorite Eye-shadow.

  1. Take your finger and put the Petroleum Gelly on your lips evenly and lightly.
  2. Take a lip brush, eye-shadow brush, or paintbrush and grab an eye-shadow color you like and swipe your brush in the eye-shadow.
  3. Now add the color to your lips and blend.
  4. Sometimes you may have to dip your brush back in the eye-shadow, if so clean your brush off first, unless you are going to consistently use that eye-shadow for lip color.
This makes your lips silky smooth all day and adds color nicely for every day use.

You can also use this same technique with application of lip balm from a tube as well or any other type of lip balm.

Ladies you don't need to line your lips either, this is just for a quick around the house, or errand day, taxing around the kids day, soccer mom day, camping out, or other "roughing it" type of day, make- up!!!

I was looking for a video to Place in this blog...No one has done this yet. Everyone tries to be so fancy,  you literally do not need a dish or jar or anything.

Please comment below and let me know if you have any other tricks. Things you would like to know or for me to blog about!..

Have a great day!

Assimilate into the Stepford Wife Community

Being a Stepford Wife does not mean bowing down to your Man's/Husbansd's every desire.
It is recognizing his role as head of the household and letting him know that you support him.

Now this is not to say that you must be a "YES" wife, it is a give and take.

Here are some 10 guidelines to begin your assimilation into the Stepford Wife Community (If you will... lol) :

1.   Do your Hair everyday Simply:
  •  When you throw your hair up for the day, throw on a scarf, wrap, or make a cute bun, or chignon.  It takes no more effort than a pony tail.  (I will post some quick "housework" up- do hair videos one day for you).

  • Throw on some colored lip balm.  (See my blog post on how to make home made colored lip balm.)

2.   Dress for your day:

  • NO husband wants to come home to a lady who looks a hot mess every single day.  Yes it is exhausting to get made up and put something fancy on every day, and that is not what I am suggesting.  What I am suggesting is that a few days out of the week put something on that makes YOU feel special and pretty.

  • Use those clothes with holes, stains, tears, or those that are too big, for CLEANING HOUSE only.  Put them in a drawer and do away with everyday wear.  When hubby sees you in these he will know you have been hard at work on the house for the DAY.  If you wear them everyday he just thinks you gave up even if you clean everyday.

  • If you are going to the grocery, you may see someone you know dress with that in mind.  You don't have to wear heels and a skirt, but some nice pants, and shirt with some jewelry will do the trick.
  • If you are going out with the hubby dress appropriately for the venue, however don't just throw something on, let him know you wish to respect him by "Representing". You don't have to dress to the nines however, put on some jewelry, fix the hair, and some colored lip balm and mascara.

3. Makeup for the day:
  • You don't have to do a full face everyday.
  • Let him know you are trying to put a "best foot forward" by throwing on some colored Lip Balm, Mascara, and blush. (See my quick make up for the day blog).

4. Make his favorite dinner without it being for a "Reason".

5.  If you are the "Lady of the House" (or Housewife) tidy a bit:
  • This is for those ladies who work in or outside of the home, these items are easy quick Tricks to appear you have worked all day!
  • Hubby likes to come home to a clean house.  You don't have to do a thorough house clean everyday.
  • Pick up all the little things around the living areas, and make the bed.  These little things will keep your home looking amazing without all the extra effort.
  • When you dirty dishes put them immediately in the dishwasher and keep the kitchen sink clean.  This "Trick" makes it look like you are working much HARDER than you really are.

6. Movie or TV night.
  • If you are home all day long, chances you have watches a bit of television throughout the day.  When hubby comes home, let him have the Television.
  • If you have a favorite show that comes on during the hours hubby is home, simply let him know that you would like to have the television every week during that day at that time.  Men like to have a set routine.
  • Me and my hubby do something that most families did in the 1950's 1960's.  We have one show we agree on during dinner or family time.  We watch one episode (yes even on netflix)  during this time as a family unit.
  • When we want to watch a movie together we choose a movie that we either both agree on or he chooses one this week and tolerate my crying, and I watch one he chooses, and deal with the loud explosions. LOL.

7. If you notice his clothes need to be tossed out:
  • First ask if he is attached to those holey undies for a reason. (yes you would be surprised lol)
  • Know what needs replacing and just replace it. Chances are you know what your hubby likes, even if he is picky.
  • Knowing your hubbies favorite undershirt, undies, or socks brand is an amazing thing to men and they LOVE it. Especially if they don't have to go shopping for those items.

8. If he falls asleep watching television:
  • Let the program he was watching finish.  YES it is annoying as all get out!!!!
  • Once his program is finished, gently wake him and let him know his neck is crooked and you were worried he would wake with a sore neck.
  • If hubby is snoring, gently wake him and let him know politely he was snoring and you are worried he will wake with a sore throat.
  • It is difficult NOT to snap!!! Just don't, compose yourself, do it before you are at breaking point.

9. Never let a man make you feel less than:

  • Yes all couples argue and say things they don't mean, and call each other names, but there are things you just DON'T have to take.
  • You should never let your man tell you consistently that you are less than an amazing human being.
  • You should never put your hands on your man, hit him, or throw things at him ( unless they are very soft and you allow him to throw it back at you, the soft thing lol)  This looks funny in the movies, however, when a plate is flying at your head it is not funny at all. It is a crime.
  • If you are constantly yelled at, that is not a great feeling.  Attempt to sit and ask your man what he is really angry about.  Now you know your man and I am not a counselor, don't do something that will get you in a pickle.
  • If you are being abused PLEASE TELL SOMEONE!  There are wonderful places for women to go to and get help, assistance, etc.  Have a plan! There are many free programs for counseling as well.

10.Have a menu for the week!!
  • This will make your life so darn easy!!

  • Make a 7 day plan for breakfast lunch and dinner.  (use a mark and wipe board or paper and pen)

  • Let hubby give his input on what he likes.

  • If you know Friday is his busiest day, make sure it is something quick and easy to make and not too filling.  He will probably want to watch t.v. and go to bed.

  • Your menu should be quick and easy for you to cook.  Most of my meals take 30 minutes to create and cook.
  • Be flexible if hubby calls and says he does not want meatloaf for dinner, OK no problem switch the days around to accommodate.
  • If you spent all day cooking and your man wants to go out to eat...OK . Put dinner in the fridge and go out to eat.  He just wants to show you he appreciates you.

Remember Men can Be Stepford Husbands!!! These tricks work for you as well :)

Jimmy Johns Gourmet Sandwiches

www.jimmyjohns.com

Jimmy Johns has amazing sandwiches and the price is pretty reasonable.

Couple of things:
1. They say they deliver but they do not always deliver to your area.
2. Their potato chips are made with peanut oil for those allergic
3. Bean Sprouts are awesome but can give gas. :)

I love their sub sandwiches here.  They pile on the meat and veg and you feel like you actually have a substantial sandwich.  The bread you can actually bite into  and it does not smoosh down into
nothingness.

The flavor is great!  My husband thinks that the meat is too salty for him here. But my son loves it!  He knows exactly what number he orders, and with what on it!!!

They have sandwiches, wraps, and subs.
You can have a pickle, cookie, or chips on the side and your choice of soda or tea.

Enjoy!

My family took me to this restaurant for Mother's Day.

First off let me say they had a select menu for that day only which is fine.

It was very crowed, as to be expected on a holiday such as Mother's Day.

We waited in the front foyer where it was very crowed and disorganized and were pushed too and fro.  Finally a wait staff asked us how many in our party.  There were only 3 of us. We were told it would be a few minutes. Again which is understandable due to it being a holiday we expected to wait. But there was no room to sit or stand to wait and everyone was pushing and shoving.  Not very calm environment.

We eventually were seated at a back area which was not very crowed and fairly calm.  It was spacious and lots of room.  However, we were sat at a very small table and there were 3 of us. My husband is 6'5" alone and needs leg room.  There were plenty of tables that we could have been placed at that were not filled the entire time we were there.

The seats and tables are large picnic bench style seating and not easy to get in and out of for anyone who may be handicapped or has a difficult time sliding into and around bench style seating.

The Menu is brought around on a large board that stands up and leans on the table across from you.  This is very unsafe.  I had to get up to use the restroom at one point and on the way back almost took a nose dive trying to scoot around people and the signs.  If you have a bad back forget it!  I could barely move by the time we left the seats are so hard and uncomfortable

The meat choices available were Steak, Burger, or Shrimp. There were not very many sides either and the prices were high for the portions they were serving.  Keep in mind this is a barbecue restaurant and thus is being compared to other such barbecue family style restaurants.

When the food came we felt like we had been robbed.  The food was OK, the salad was OK, there was not a choice for dressings, the portions we received were small and the food was warm at best.

This pic is from the website. The potatoes and all were brought out on the same plate as the steak and out potatoes were 1/2 that size and the steak was very thin and small. The rolls seemed to not be all the way cooked.

We were so hungry by the time the food arrived, we ate anyway and we wanted to make the best of the wonderful holiday that the hubby and son took the time out to make possible. So we made due.

This is about how my sons fries looked, they were dry and cold and his steak was very thin and dry. This pic is from the web.

My husband noticed about 5 minutes after he finished his drink that we no longer saw the waitress. Mind you is was no longer busy and folks had started clearing out a bit.

10 more minutes passed and our wait staff was nowhere to be found.  We asked the bus person to please fill our drinks and if he could find our waitress we would like to pay our check.  He was kind and brought everyone drinks and said he told the waitress.

20 minutes later no one came back to our table we saw no waitstaff, only bar staff at the little bar inside our area.

We went up to the bar and inquired about our check and they said they don't know about checks because they only work the bar.  My husband was really upset by now and went to the bar in the main area which has the check out register as well.  He was told after 10 minutes that the wait staff had an emergency and went home.

"OK so no one was told or used common sense enough to check on her tables? You just let the customers fend for themselves, we sat there waiting for our sodas, or check and no one bothered to check on us.  We asked other staff and they stated it basically was not their problem. We asked 2 other waitresses to assist us and no one bothered to do ANYTHING. "

"I am sorry sir, would you like to pay your check?"

My husband, "Yes please do you have a check for us?"

He paid the check while all 3 of us stood there feeling let down and irritated and robbed by the money we spent there and NO ONE even apologized or tried to make our experience there better.

We will NEVER go back to this restaurant.

If you have questions or comments please leave them below.  Mind you this is not the first time I have been here, it will be our last.  My son referrs it to the gross place where the seats hurt my butt.  LOL

Revisit to LuLu's Cafe: Fell off

Recently I revisited LuLu's with a family member.

We were not impressed!

LuLu's Bakery and cafe fell off!

They have increased all of their prices, the fried mushrooms you can no longer get as a side...you can add it for extra, and the portions were smaller.

Usually we get a large portion of mashed potatoes, no we got a small scoop.

The chicken fried steak had more breading than steak, half of my steak was breading!

We spent double of what we would normally spend.

They have redone the entire menu, albeit that it looks nicer, they have taken off all of the history and the "Man vs. Food" part.

The flavor of the food was not quite as good as usual but it was ok, but not for the money spent,

They do not carry Coca-Cola products, and for 2 sodas it was $4.95.

I know that prices need to go up and LuLu has had the same pricing for a long time, however, to increase the pricing by about $3.00 a plate as well as giving out smaller portions is not cool.

The steaks are huge in appearance but now they are mostly breading on the entire outer edge.

Restrooms were dirty and smelled like urine, no paper towels or dryer.  This is an older restaurant and the restaurant itself was clean.

Our table was filthy and we had to clean it ourselves, the wait staff did not clean it. They did not clean after customers left promptly either. When we walked in 5 tables had not been bused and had no customers.

It was louder than usual but we usually go at night too and we went early evening around 3 pm or so.  However, it was so loud it was uncomfortable and we could not hear each other.

Our waitress was fabulous!

I will not be going back for a very very long time.

Incredible Pizza: San Antonio

Game Room stays open until 9:30PM
Friday & Saturday:
11:00AM – 10:00 PM
Game Room stays open until 10:30PM

My family and I visited Incredible Pizza about 3-4 years ago and had a blast!
Why haven't we been back then is your next question?
Well it is on the other side of town about a 2 hour drive in traffic. So we just have not ventured out that way in a long time.

courtesy of Incredible Pizza or Google Images
The Pricing is great.  It is $9.99 per adult 12 - up, and $8.49 per child 11 and under.
It is a buffet style meal with pizza of all types, some pastas, a fabulous salad bar, and they offer gluten free items if that is your desire. You may check out their full menu on their website.
They do not give tokens like other pizza playlands, they give you a card instead.  This card they put credits on for you.  You can also put credit on the card yourself inside the play area at the credit machines.

Of course all my loyal readers know by now that I LOVE any 1950-1960 themed restaurant!  The front of the restaurant has a beautiful antique car and is decked out in 1950-1960 themed decor.
Off to the side are two theater areas you can scurry into after gathering your food.  They play family friendly movies.

After munching on your food and you feel the need to run to the game room, start heading that direction.  DO NOT RUN though it is not permitted, we do not want anyone hurt! :)
There are games for adults and kids of all ages!  There are video games that are new and current such as "Fruit Ninja" when we were there, as well as older games such as the claw, and coin drop games.

You have the need for speed you say?  Then go check out the racing cars (my absolute favorite), bumper cars,  or the roller coaster.  For an extra fee they have a virtual ride, and a Build-a-Bear type machine.

If you prefer something much slower they have an amazing mini golf course that my son loved, as well as a cool bowling alley, that my fiancee loved.

The staff members kept the tables clean and neat which is no small feat for this large restaurant and the many kiddos running about.  The restrooms were clean, the game room area was clean from debris, as well as not sticky.  The staff was helpful and friendly, and ready to answer all questions.  Pricing was fair compared to other type restaurants, prizes were pretty cool as far as my son says, and the games were more fun and a larger variety than most restaurants of this type.  There was a decent variety of foods offered, and they offered Coca-Cola beverages as well as coffee.

All in all we had a blast and the food was good.
If you do not have fun here you are not trying hard enough!

Blue Plate Award

This week's Blue Plate Award goes to Tongs Thai Restaurant on 1146 Austin Hwy on the Northeast Side. Appetizers to soups and salads and traditional Thai entrees and sushi -- everything is made fresh and delicious.
Congratulations, guys for keeping your kitchen - squeaky clean!

I would like to also congratulate them on a job well done and on a beautiful and easy to use website.
I have not yet eaten here, it has been on my list for a few years, I just have not made it inside!
From the menu on their website it looks as if it is a lovely upscale restaurant serving Thai, as well as Chinese foods.
They serve Bubble Tea as well as Sushi!  I must visit soon!

Think Twice Before you Eat!

Here is the local News 4 WAOI San Antonio report from Kitchen cops for
TUESDAY, AUGUST 2ND 2016
as reported by:   DELAINE MATHIEU, NEWS 4 SAN ANTONIO

Inspectors gave Jack In The Box on 1818 Foster Road on the Northeast Side a 73 -- a passing score but the inspector found some issues.
Among the violations...
  • Grease accumulation on the exhaust vent was dripping onto the grill
  • Dirty surfaces that come into contact with food
  • No written food policy for employees
  • Employees not washing hands correctly
  • Leaky hand faucet
  • Food stored without dates
  • No test strips for sanitizing solutions
  • Employees not wearing hair restraints, like hats or hair nets

Now a lot of those things are pretty bad as far as I am concerned.  I have eaten here in the past and the restaurant was clean inside, the restrooms were OK when I have visited.  But it has been a while.

Please keep in mind that restaurants have an allotted amount of time to have these items fixed before re-inspection.  However, since the score was passing, will the inspectors go back to do a re-inspection?  I do not know.

Eat at your own risk.
