However, tacos looked just like this!

Hello everyone!  I was out with my guy and we stopped to get some tacos at Las Palapas!  We eat tacos A LOT, so I wanted to compare the tacos at Las Palapas to tacos of other restaurants that we have been to.  I wanted to answer the age old question..."why buy tacos here rather than somewhere else?"

The tacos we purchased were tacos that we order pretty much every time we order tacos.
1 bean & cheese with bacon
1 barbacoa taco with cilantro and onions on the side
1 potato & egg taco
1 pico de gallo

The tortillas were delicious but a bit thin, my taco broke through 1/2 way through eating it. They were large enough to hold all of the contents and still fold over.  The tacos were full and not skimpy.

  • Potato & egg: Eggs were fluffy but not overly fluffy, potatoes were large and fell out.
  • Bean & cheese with bacon: bean flavor was great, the beans were nice and consistent, cheese had a lovely flavor, bacon was not too crunchy and not too soft, which was perfect for me.
  • Barbacoa meat was tender, meat was in medium strips, the flavor was good.
  • Pico was nice & even as far as ingredients go, and very fresh.
  • Mild sauce had a great flavor.
*** They neglected to put out cilantro and onions in the bag!

Prices:
  • Potato & egg- $1.69
  • Bean & Cheese with Bacon- $1.39 + $0.59
  • Barbacoa $3.29

Their prices are outrageous!  Depending on the taco you purchase, almost every single taco has a different price.  Unlike most other Mexican Food Restaurants who have consistent prices for breakfast tacos and consistent pricing for premium tacos.
On a good note they do NOT charge for the Pico De Gallo.

This location at Callahan Road is quite small and good only for a quick lunch as it gets loud because it gets crowded.  They were full when I went.  This is the only type of this restaurant around this location that business folks in the area can get to quickly with no traffic.  So for that it is a great stop.

Bathrooms were fairly clean, the soap dispenser is coming off the wall, there is only one stall, it smelled kinda nice in there, it was quite small and cramped.  It would be difficult for someone handicap-able to enter in here with a wheelchair and turn to wash hands.

The restaurant appeared very clean, there were empty plates on the tables that stayed there the entire time I was there, (15 minutes). It is family friendly.

I only go here if I am in the area and am starving and have extra money.  All in all their tacos are no better than any other restaurants tacos.  The flavor is good, service is good, price is pricey.
